Marisa Seibert

Ecotoxicology Laboratory Manager

Marisa is the Port Gamble Laboratory Manager. Born and raised in South Florida, Marisa’s passion for the marine ecosystem stems from childhood when she got SCUBA certified and would spend every weekend boating and in the ocean. While attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa for a year, she developed an interest in the identification of native tropical macroalgae. After attending UH, Marisa completed her studies at Florida Atlantic University and graduated with a BS in Biology. There she was a part of an honors program that focused on climate change. She completed an undergraduate thesis and conducted a small experiment that studied the effects ocean acidification has on tropical calcareous macroalgae found in the Atlantic Ocean. In 2012 she moved to Washington where she worked as a marine mammal trainer for the Navy for seven years. As the Ecotoxicology Laboratory Manager, Marisa oversees daily laboratory tasks, coordinates and schedules incoming testing, and ensures that data quality objectives are met in accordance with the laboratory’s quality assurance and accreditation programs. With two young kids, Marisa and her family enjoy being outdoors, exploring nature, and going on many adventures.
