Malacologist / Aquatic Ecologist

EcoAnalysts, Inc. seeks to hire a Malacologist/Aquatic Ecologist to be part of a successful team of aquatic scientists. In this position, you will be required to assist and lead freshwater mussel, fish, and other aquatic projects out of the Missouri office. This position will be hired at a mid- to senior-level and will include fieldwork, proposal preparation, project management, field crew supervision, equipment maintenance, data analysis, and report preparation.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in biology, aquatic ecology, fisheries, or related field with at least five years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Knowledge of Ohio and Mississippi River basin unionid fauna

  • Experience with spreadsheets, databases, word processing, graphics, statistics

  • Familiar with setting up and implementing small and largescale study designs

  • Willingness to travel for extended jobs (typically between 5 and 14 days, occasionally more)

  • Ability to compile proposals, project schedules, and budgets

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record

  • Desire to work and/or lead effectively in a team environment

  • Effective and efficient verbal and written communication skills (write technical reports, present oral presentations, and coordinate with clients and agencies)

  • Unionid federal T&E species permitted and/or experience necessary to obtain permit(s)

Additional Desirable Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain a class E chauffeur’s license

  • Dive certification (i.e., PADI or ADCI)

  • Knowledge of midwestern fish, invertebrates, and aquatic ecosystems

  • Boating experience (driving, trailering, loading, and unloading)

  • Experience using GPS and GIS hardware/software

  • Consulting experience
