EcoAnalysts is assisting Grand Rapids Whitewater with agency consultation and mitigation design for a river restoration project on the Grand River in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A hydrophysical mussel habitat model was developed to facilitate assessment of project effects on freshwater mussels. Baseline mussel monitoring was conducted in 2016 and 2017 and a Biological Assessment is currently being prepared.
EcoAnalysts was subcontracted by Stantec to assist with endangered unionid mussel issues associated with the replacement of the Interstate 74 Bridge over the Mississippi River. Between 2014 and 206, EA conducted mussel surveys, recipient site investigations, and the largest mussel relocation in North America. Mussels will be monitored periodically for the next 10 years.
