Society for Freshwater Sciences (SFS) Certification
The Taxonomic Certification Program is sponsored by SFS in an effort to provide a standard by which the skills of macroinvertebrate taxonomists can be measured in North America. Many water monitoring projects that utilize biological assessment protocols established by the US Environmental Protection Agency and other agencies depend on the accurate and precise identifications of aquatic organisms.
The combined experience of our consulting scientists and taxonomic staff exceeds 180 years.

About SFS
The Society for Freshwater Sciences (SFS) is an international scientific organization whose purpose is to promote further understanding of aquatic ecosystems, with particular interest in the stream benthic biological community and its relationship to aquatic ecosystem structure and function, the watershed and landscape, habitat assessment, conservation, and restoration. SFS fosters exchange of scientific information among the membership, and with other professional societies, resource managers, policy makers, educators, and the public.
