Taxonomic Services: Larval Fish & Fish Stomach Content Analyses
Fish Identification and Quality Control for NJDEP Fish Reference Collection (2007).
Biologists from the
NJDEP requested an EcoAnalysts, Inc. biologist conduct identifications of 71 preserved samples consisting of unknown
and previously identified specimens as part of the DEP quality control requirements. The samples were completed and the results returned
to the client.
Mississippi River Larval Fish Identifications (2003).
EcoAnalysts sorted and identified larval fish from over seven hundred samples collected on the upper Mississippi River. Identifications were to genus/species level when possible.
Great Lakes Larval Fish Identifications (2004).
We sorted and identified over 300 larval fish samples collected from three energy generating facilities on the Great Lakes.
Kootenai River Fish Stomach Contents Analysis (2002 – present).
EcoAnalysts processes an average of 150 fish stomachs each year from the Kootenai River. Contents are identified to lowest practical level, which ranges from order to genus depending on condition of the material. Total dry weights are measured for each sample.
Snake River Fish Stomach Contents Analysis (1997).
EcoAnalysts identified gut contents of over 150 Chinook salmon smolts collected in Lower Granite Reservoir by the University of Idaho. Samples were identified to lowest practical level (order and family) and whole sample dry weight was measured.
