The USEPA, states and many other partners have embarked on a survey of the nation's lakes in an effort to assess lake conditions at regional and national levels. Over 1000 lakes will be sampled throughout the summer of 2007. In addition to water quality and habitat quality, biological assemblages (zooplankton, phytoplankton, benthic invertebrates) are being used as indicators of lake quality. After an open competitive bid process, EcoAnalysts was selected as the sole contract laboratory to provide phytoplankton taxonomy support services for the National Lakes Survey. The contract, valued at up to $500,000.00 over an eight month period, is the largest ever garnered by our firm and represents a significant growth in project workload. EcoAnalysts is once again looking forward to serving the USEPA with excellence in taxonomic services.
