Lab Technician

We are currently hiring laboratory technicians. Work consists of primarily sorting samples from river lake & stream beds using forceps and a microscope while meticulously following lab protocols. Basic math and computer skills, the ability to work quickly and independently, and an intense attention to detail are essential for this position. We provide on-the-job training so experience is desired but not required.

Pay starts at $7.00/hr
Must work a minimum of 20hrs/week
Work is to be performed between 8am and 6pm


Periphyton Taxonomist

EcoAnalysts is currently searching for an individual who enjoys algae taxonomy and who wants to be part of a successful team of aquatic scientists. Position
We are currently seeking qualified applicants for one full-time periphyton taxonomist position. Duties involve preparation and identification of periphyton and phytoplankton samples, data analysis and bioassessment report writing.

Location
A training period of up to approximately 12 months will occur in Joplin , MO. Permanent location will be in either Joplin or Moscow , ID.

Qualifications
The major responsibility of the Periphyton taxonomist is the identification of phytoplankton and periphyton samples. We work in a production environment where accuracy is critical and speed is imperative. The majority of our projects come from around North America , so the successful candidate will be required to learn and become familiar with a diverse range of taxa. During an initial intense training period, the Periphyton Taxonomist will be working under the wing of a highly experienced Senior Periphyton Taxonomist. After the training period, the Periphyton Taxonomist will also be responsible for executing our rigorous quality control tasks.

The successful applicant must have a good work ethic, be able to meet deadlines, be willing to go the “extra mile”, and work well in small groups and independently. Minimum qualifications are a bachelor's degree in the biological sciences and demonstrated experience in identifying soft-bodied algae, diatoms, and/or phytoplankton. Preference will be given to applicants with a completed Master's degree and/or at least two years of identification experience in a production taxonomy setting.

Chironomidae Taxonomist

Location: This is a full-time position in our Moscow , Idaho headquarters

Responsibilities:
The major responsibility of the Chironomidae taxonomist is the identification of chironomids to genus/species level. We work in a production environment where accuracy is critical and speed is imperative. The majority of our projects come from around North America, so the successful candidate will be required to learn and become familiar with a diverse range of chironomid taxa. During an initial intense training period, the Chironomidae Taxonomist will be working under the wing of a highly experienced Senior Chironomidae Taxonomist. After the training period, the Chironomidae Taxonomist will also be responsible for executing our rigorous quality control tasks.

Qualifications:
Expertise in identifying Chironomidae to species is highly desirable, and genus level skill is preferable. Special skills in any other group will be helpful. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, enjoy collaborating with people, work well in a small team environment, and meet deadlines. Minimum qualifications are a bachelor's degree in entomology or related biological field and demonstrated experience in identifying chironomids. Two years of full-time experience in a production taxonomy setting is also preferred.
