EcoAnalysts Administrative Team
President / CEO
Gary has worked in the field of aquatic ecology since 1987. His principal areas of expertise include bioassessment of surface waters using benthic macroinvertebrate communities. As CEO of EcoAnalysts, Gary's duties include contract management, stewarding client relationships, supervising management personnel, contract and project oversight, implementation of QA/QC protocols, and business and leadership development. An active member of the North American Benthological Society, Gary currently serves on the Taxonomic Certification Program Committee. This committee is charged with advancing the quality of taxonomic data nationally by developing a certification program for freshwater taxonomists. Gary co-authored a paper published in the Journal of the North American Benthological Society in December 2003 on determining the quality of taxonomic data.
Vice President / CFO
Scott has been involved in the fisheries/aquatic ecology field since 1989. His principal areas of experience in the aquatic resources field are benthic invertebrate identifications and fisheries habitat inventory and rehabilitation. Currently his duties at EcoAnalysts include personnel management, business development and financial oversight. Scott is a co-owner of EcoAnalysts and he serves as the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
Macroinvertebrate Laboratory Coordinator
In February, 2006, Dawn joined the EcoAnalysts team with over 15 years management experience and a strong background in the natural sciences.
Project Coordinator
Shanda has been with the EcoAnalysts team since May 2000. Shanda was promoted to Project Coordinator in 2005 after serving as our Laboratory Coordinator for over three years. She is responsible for overseeing the successful completion of projects in our taxonomy laboratories. Shanda has a degree from the University of Idaho in Mathematics Education. Her primary responsibilities are the oversight of day-to-day project activities including maintaining chain of custody records and logging all samples into our laboratories, insuring standard operating procedures for sorting and QA are followed, updating and maintaining database integrity and coordinating personnel and resources to insure projects are done in a timely and cost-effective manner. Shanda is in charge of all hazardous materials shipping, receiving, and compliance as well as all international import and export compliance.
Human Resources Coordinator
Eric hails from the Midwest, where he spent over 22 years in business leadership. Eric received an Associate of Science degree in Computer Aided Design while living in Ohio, and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Indiana University. He is the Human Resources Coordinator and is responsible for recruitment, employee development, and policy and benefits management. Eric is a Professional Life & Business Coach and brings to EcoAnalysts passion for and extensive experience in the growth and success of individuals within the organization. He believes that for a company to achieve excellence, it must be built upon each employee’s balance between valuable contributions toward the company’s vision and mission, and personal happiness. Eric's Servant Leadership style gives us another way to work toward our vision to be good stewards of our customers' needs, our company's resources, and our environment.
Sorting Laboratory Manager
Adam has been a member of EcoAnalysts since Dec. 2007. He began working as a sorting lab technician and was promoted to sorting lab manager in June 2008. Adam, originally from Michigan, received his BS in Ecology, Evolution and Behavioral Biology from Beloit College in Wisconsin and has taken further course work in aquatic entomology at the University of Idaho. As sorting lab manager Adam is responsible for tracking all projects that pass through the sorting lab, ensuring that each sample is processed according to protocol and receives a quality control check to assure the level of excellence that EcoAnalysts clients have come to expect. Adam oversees the hiring and training of new sorting lab technicians and, as a primary trainer, trains technicians himself. He is tasked with the monitoring of the lab which includes setting and tracking the lab schedule, tracking individual samples progress, maintaining lab equipment and supplies, and providing assistance in the development of lab technicians.
Mary E. Smith
Technology/Database Manager
Before Mary joined the EcoAnalysts team in August 2007, she worked for over a year as a consultant on EcoAnalysts’ Aegis software development team. Aegis is the LIMS software that EcoAnalysts boldly developed from scratch to solve their laboratory data management needs. Mary graduated summa cum laude from Eastern Washington University in 1993 with a B.S. in Computer Science and minors in Mathematics and Physics. Her expertise is in data extraction, data analysis, and reporting. She has over 25 years of experience in the IT field working with small companies and Fortune 500 companies alike, and brings both IT management and large-scale software development skills to EcoAnalysts. Her role is to centralize, standardize, and coordinate all the IT activities in EcoAnalysts, and she is now the project manager for the in-house Aegis software project.
